Robert Holmes, General USAF (Retired)Robert Holmes is a leader and senior executive with almost four decades of experience in government and industry leading organizations ranging from small teams to large complex organizations with diverse functional missions and challenges. This cross-sectioned experience fosters Bob's talents in leadership, strategy development and planning, organizational effectiveness and team building.
Bob is a retired Brigadier General with a career in Special Operations and Joint Warfighting, and combat veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and the Global War on Terror. Bob hails from Sylacauga, Alabama and received his commission as a second lieutenant from the United States Air Force Officer Training School in 1978. He progressed early to be a Combat Control Team member, the USAF's tactical and special operations force later known as Special Tactics. As a Special Tactics Combat Control officer, he led small teams of elite special operators in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Central America. In 2001 shortly after the attacks on 9/11 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, Bob deployed as the Deputy Commander, Joint Special Operations Task Force-South (Task Force K-Bar), responsible for directing and conducting joint combat operations in southern Afghanistan. He commanded at all levels from detachment to wing, including the 37th Training Wing, the largest training wing in the Air Force with assigned personnel of over 13,000 and a total base population of 37,000 people. He reached flag rank as Brigadier General in 2005 and notable assignments include the USAF Director of Security Forces and Force Protection (Air Staff, Pentagon), US Central Command (CENTCOM) Deputy Director of Operations, and Director of the Inter-Agency Task Force for US Special Operations Command (SOCOM). Bob is master parachutist and military freefall parachutist. After retiring from the Air Force in 2009, Bob joined the defense industry as the senior director for a leading-edge information operations program in support of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. Going to Camber Corporation in 2011, Bob quickly provided a market strategy for Special Operations and Irregular Warfare, identifying opportunities where Camber's business and technical capabilities could be used to support the Special Operations community. Later as Vice President and Account Executive, Bob managed Camber's most diverse account spanning the Air Force, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Secretary of Defense and International Programs. Bob earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Communications from David Lipscomb University, a Master of Education (Urban Studies/Affairs) from Georgia State University and a Master of Science in Management from Faulkner University. Additionally, Bob participated in Senior Executive studies at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
